about

Ron Brunk: "I've written 14,000 songs in my life, and 'Gravy Town' is in my Top 20 of personal favorites. I really love this recording because we just nailed it live in the studio, one take. And it's so raw and passionate. Personally, I don't like music that's too slick and overly polished and overly produced. I like to capture the rough, unpolished sound of art in its raw, pure form and essence."

lyrics

Drinking blood from a flower
Making love to my gun
When it comes the zero hour
Every coward will run

Maybe there's no tomorrow
Maybe there never was
Looks like you're caught up in the sorrow
Of doing what everybody does

Going down to Gravy Town
It won't take long
Going down to Gravy Town
Why don't you come along?

I know you talk a good game
When your back's against the wall
But there in the eye of the hurricane
Your words mean nothing at all

How does that silver spoon taste?
Eternal victim, so bizarre
You should hang yourself with a shoelace
From the end of your falling star
