MARY ALICE & HER DANDELION WINE
Copyright 2022 Ron Brunk Publishing
Folding sweaters, where’s it going to get her?
In a small town five and dime
Toying with a retail state of mind
She smiles wide, she knows the truth inside
Far beyond the bargain bin
She’s a dandelion dancing on the wind
Feeling fine………..
Mary Alice and her dandelion wine
She’s feeling fine…..
Mary Alice and her dandelion wine
A broken wing does not mean a thing
To sheer determination
It’s a temporary situation
Take control with the sky as black as coal
When the bad things make you sad
The ground is just a launching pad
CHORUS
The mountain air moves like fingers through her hair
In the Appalachian sunlight
She sees the future burning bright

BLOOD RED MOON
© Ron Brunk Publishing
Somewhere beyond
The great billowing foam
Came the sound of a mournful tune
The captain was ready
And the men held steady
Over the waves, under the blood red moon
The stars were flashing
Their beautiful eyes
Like a bride who loves her true groom
But there’s never no rest
For the brave and the best
Over the waves, under the blood red moon
Fair maidens back home
Pined a fanciful dream
Homeward their boys would come soon
While the pure and the chaste
In the battle laid waste
Over the waves, under the blood red moon
The angels came down
And silenced the sea
With measures of mercy and doom
The green hills are callin’
The mighty who’ve fallen
Over the waves, under the blood red moon
Over the waves, under the blood red moon

GHOSTS OF SHEPHERDSTOWN
© Ron Brunk Publishing
The sun comes up on a sleepy little town
To kiss the bodies scattered on the ground
Nine miles from everywhere, they said
But never enough room for all the dying and the dead
From nearby Antietam the wounded came
Officers and privates just the same
Wagon loads of suffering and pain
But every dying soldier had a story and a name
Oooooooohhhhh…Shepherdstown…..
Oooooooohhhhh…Shepherdstown…..
Oooooooooohhhhhhhhh…..the ghosts…..of Shepherdstown
The regiments were lined up on the banks
Haunted by the ghosts within their ranks
Fear was lurking in the marketplace
They could feel it like a demon crawling on their face
Pendleton and Porter took the stage
At Boteler’s Ford a vicious battle raged
The Potomac River running crimson red
With the blood of young boys, the wounded and the dead
CHORUS
The artillery poured down a thunderstorm
On the sharpshooters hidden among the thorns
Many men were torn off at the knees
To see the elephant come roaring like a devil through the trees
The Opequon overflowed with Union blue
Bodies bobbing thick like a human stew
Good and evil dance on one thin dime
Floating all along the Mason-Dixon line
CHORUS
Late at night you can hear the phantom cry
A haunting broken-hearted lullaby
Their blood was spilled here on this holy ground
And their spirits still wander the streets of Shepherdstown

SHOULD BE SLEEPING
© Ron Brunk Publishing
I should be sleeping
But something’s creeping through my brain
I could be dreaming
Of sunlight streaming through the rain
On a summer day
When the children play
And laughter fills the air
And the birds are singing everywhere
La la la la la la la….
I should be sleeping
But something’s keeping me awake
Words we’ve spoken
Found my broken lucky break
And I raise a toast
To the lonely ghost
Who’s living inside my head
Punctuating every word we said
La la la la la la la……la la la la la la la…..
And I miss you more
Than I did before
And feel like a bloody fool
I held you close
As you gave the ghost
And I watched you fade away
I should be sleeping
But something’s creeping through my brain
I could be dreaming
Of sunlight streaming through the rain
On a lovely day
When the children play
And laughter fills the air
And the birds are singing everywhere
With Armageddon in my hair
Armageddon’s tangled in my hair
La la la la la la la…….la la la la la la la……

FADING DAY
© Ron Brunk Publishing
Did you think I would not remember you?
Did you think I would not remember to
Ask you to stay?
Did you have in your mind the thought of retreat?
Did you think you could just hand me defeat
And ride….ride into the fading day?
They say that in the end, it’s gonna end
But I believe that broken hearts will mend
And something in your eyes
Tells me I can call you my friend
Life is so strange, you live till you die
There was a time that I thought that I
Would always, always want to be alone
But when I look in your eyes I see a sunny day
When I look in your eyes I just want to stay
With you….because your heart is my home

Love Is My Savior

LOVE IS MY SAVIOR
© Ron Brunk Publishing
There are ghostlike lovers who wander the darkness
Scars on their souls that no other can see
Throwing themselves at the feet of the heartless for me
There are grandiose fools who boast in their folly
Peering into the depths of the sea
Bearing their burdens now so melancholy for me
All my riches by and by
Will not save me when I die
Love is my savior tonight
All my riches by and by
Cannot save me when I die
Love is my savior tonight
I carried my chains searching for freedom
Dreaming of all the great things I could be
Swinging my hammer and building my kingdom for me
The wind and the rain so quickly descended
My castle and kingdom were swept out to sea
Nothing remained when the long night had ended for me
All my riches by and by
Will not save me when I die
Love is my savior tonight
All my riches by and by
Cannot save me when I die
Love is my savior tonight

JIMMIE & JACKIE
© Ron Brunk Publishing
Kicking rocks down an old dirt road
The sun beat down like a heavy load
A truck roared by, Jimmie stuck out his thumb
Truck slowed down, Jimmie started to run
He jumped in the back with his old six string
Gave it a strum and began to sing
About Jimmie….and Jackie….……..searching for love
Jimmie and Jackie……...Jimmie and Jackie….
Jimmie and Jackie….…mmmmmmm...searching for love
On the other side of the world somewhere
The moon was full and the trees were bare
Jackie stood on the water’s edge
Praying hard for some daily bread
Her lonely heart felt the sting
She lifted her head and began to sing
About Jimmie….and Jackie...……...searching for love
Jimmie and Jackie...…...Jimmie and Jackie….
Jimmie and Jackie….…mmmmmmm…………..searching for love
Jimmie and Jackie...…...Jimmie and Jackie….
Jimmie and Jackie….…mmmmmmm…………..searching for love
The stars fell to earth, lightning split the sky
Two lovers found each other and held on tight
In the cold midnight
The world is changing, the past is gone
Time for all cosmic vagabonds
To find love…………
Jimmie and Jackie...…...Jimmie and Jackie….
Jimmie and Jackie….…mmmmmmm...searching for love
Jimmie and Jackie...…...Jimmie and Jackie….
Jimmie and Jackie….…mmmmmmm...searching for love……………………..

MOUNTAIN
© Ron Brunk Publishing
Up on the mountain wild creatures roam
Tooth and nail and blood to the bone
We howled like wolves and ruled like kings
Till the mountain……made a fool of me
Up on the mountain I could see it all
The nations rise and the kingdoms fall
Young and strong like a Hercules
Till the mountain…..made a fool of me
Till the mountain……made a fool of me
INTERLUDE
Riding the rails on a magic train
Under the spell of the Gravy Brain
So very certain of my certainty
Till the mountain…..made a fool of me
Till the mountain……made a fool of me
Till the mountain…..made a fool of me
INTERLUDE
Up on the mountain wild creatures roam
Tooth and nail and blood to the bone
We howled like wolves and we ruled like kings
Till the mountain……made a fool of me
Till the mountain…..made a fool of me
Till the mountain

I'll Be Waiting

I’LL BE WAITING
Copyright 1999, 2021 Ron Brunk Publishing
The world is changing but you’ll always be mine
I live for this moment, my treasure divine
Passion and purpose will merge into one
Fanning the flames and burning the sun
Somewhere across the blue
I’ll be waiting, I’ll be waiting for you
Somewhere across the blue
I’ll be waiting, I’ll be waiting for you
One green eye, one eye blue
That’s what I see when I look inside of you
Fields of happiness on turbulent seas
I will love you forever if you’ll let me, please
Somewhere across the blue
I’ll be waiting, I’ll be waiting for you
Somewhere across the blue
I’ll be waiting, I’ll be waiting for you
The spirits are haunting
The things that I’m wanting
Tiny slivers of darkness
Hiding in your light……….
Somewhere across the blue
I’ll be waiting, I’ll be waiting for you
Somewhere across the blue
I’ll be waiting, I’ll be waiting for you
Somewhere across the blue
I’ll be waiting, I’ll be waiting for you
I’ll be waiting, I’ll be waiting for you
I’ll be waiting, I’ll be waiting for you

HELLO, LADY MINE
© Ron Brunk Publishing
Hello, lady mine
I’m afraid that it’s time
I must say goodbye to you
We shared so much good
And I knew that we would
But my time here is through
Will you remember me?
And think tenderly
Of what we had?
Please don’t feel bad
It’s time to die
Will you pray for me?......goodbye
Hello, sky and rain
Though you will remain
I must leave you now
Never to see or feel again
The morning dew or summer wind
Softly upon my brow
CHORUS 1
Hello, mother earth
Sweet place of my birth
You know I must depart
I’ll love you always though
I’m sure that you know
With all of my heart, with all my heart
CHORUS 1
Somewhere beyond the blue
I promise to wait for you
So please don’t be sad
Think of what we’ll have
My time is through
But I will wait for you

LOVING YOU, BABY
Copyright Ron Brunk Publishing
They say the good old days are gone
Well, I believe they're wrong
Because you and I still have a lot of things to do
Let it rain, let it shine
Either way I don't mind
I'm gonna live my life loving you
There's an open road stretching out ahead
And I'm not gonna have one single regret
I'm gonna live my life loving you
Yes, I'm gonna live my life loving you
Throw your cares to the wind
Don't ever look back again
Because it's time to make our dreams come true
Breathe it in, breathe it out
That's what it's all about
I'm gonna spend my life loving you
There's an open road stretching out ahead
And I'm not gonna have one single regret
I'm gonna live my life loving you
Yes, I'm gonna live my life loving you
And when we come to the end of the day
I just want to be able to say
That I lived every moment loving you

THIS LOVE OF MINE
Copyright Ron Brunk Publishing
When the lights go down in the evening time
When the sun and the moon trade places to shine
They could part the sea or turn back time
But that wouldn’t change this love of mine
When this old world turns upside down
And your mind is dizzy and spinning around
Just plant your feet on the solid ground
Firmly on this love of mine
This love of mine will never change
It’s tried and true and will remain
Even if all the world goes off chasing rainbows
This love of mine will still remain
When the storms of life are taking their toll
And you’re feeling lonely and out of control
Don’t be afraid cuz I’ll be there for you
This love of mine will still be true
